What are the broad investment options available for non-residents?

Posted by ni2financial on June 18, 2008

Non-residents today have innumerable investment options. While categorising all the options may not be possible, we have tried to broadly categorise these investment options for non-residents.

Non-residents can:
  • Invest in the shares and debentures of the various Indian Companies
  • Directly invest in Indian Industries and/or Joint Ventures
  • Deposit with Indian Companies/Firms
  • Invest in Bank Accounts
  • Go in for Portfolio Investment in Listed Companies
  • Invest in dated Government Securities, Treasury Bills, Units of domestic / money market Mutual Funds, National Plan / Saving Certificate
  • Invest in Bonds / Disinvested Shares of PSU
  • Invest in immovable property including Housing and Real Estate Business
