The Paris Motor Show stars that will save you money

October 4, 2025

Most people who make the effort to get to motor shows around the world go to see the best of the new metal that is about to hit showrooms. This usually comprises of the big supercar groups and the luxury brands such as Rolls Royce, however, there is also new technology too that is there to save us money.

Each show sees the latest hybrid models and new petrol and diesel engines that manufacturers hope will rein in fuel costs and raise the efficiency of their vehicles to make that UK fuel card even more worthwhile. Here a few examples you can expect to see at this month’s Paris Motor Show:

Toyota Auris Hybrid

The Japanese firm will be giving their heavily facelifted Auris model its public debut in Paris and like the original model, the Hybrid will be the flagship example.

As a family hatchback, the Auris is a sizeable car, but through Toyota’s latest technology, it will operate with a CO2 drop of 13 per cent at just 109g/km. As well as the hybrid system, the car has gone through a thorough weight-saving diet and will also use improved aerodynamics to cut through the air easier to reduce resistance. A touring version will also be available for the first time in hybrid guise.

Electric Citroen DS3

After the success of the supermini hatch, Citroen will unveil an all-electric version of its popular DS3 in Paris. Running on nothing but currents, the car will travel approximately 75 miles before requiring a recharge.

Unlike many that have come before it, this electric vehicle will not require an entire night to recharge and instead takes around 30 minutes to get the car to 80 per cent capacity from a quick-charging station.

Usually such a package compromises space within the car, but the current layout inside is unaffected by the change in power unit.

Ford Mondeo EcoBoost

Ford’s EcoBoost engine has taken the motoring world by storm so far and now, the American giant has announced that their 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine will go into the family saloon for the first time.

The engine will help the firm fight the tough competition it has in the forms of BMW’s 3-series and Audi’s A4. Even though a petrol engine, the unit will allow for greater efficiency and more miles to the gallon that the equivalent four-pot.
